About the Author
Jacqueline Woodson was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1963. She grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Brown University in 1986 and received an MFA from New York University in 1990.
Woodson has written more than 30 books for children and adults. Her work has been translated into more than 30 languages and has won numerous awards.
Woodson is a MacArthur Fellow and a National Humanities Medalist. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
