Chief Joseph
Chief Joseph was a leader of the Nez Perce people. He was born in 1840 in the Wallowa Valley of Oregon. His father was a chief, and his mother was a member of the Cayuse tribe. Joseph grew up learning the ways of his people and became a skilled hunter and warrior.

Sacajawea
Sacajawea was a Native American woman who served as a guide and interpreter for the Lewis and Clark Expedition. She was born in 1788 in what is now Idaho. Jim Thorpe

In 1942, Tallchief joined the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. She quickly became one of the company's leading dancers, and she toured the world with the company for many years. Wilma Mankiller
