On April 23, 1918, a daring British raid on the German U-boat base at Zeebrugge changed the course of World War I. Ninety Seconds at Zeebrugge tells the story of this extraordinary event, from its planning and execution to its aftermath.

The raid was the brainchild of Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, who had been frustrated by the increasing number of German U-boats operating out of Zeebrugge. Keyes believed that a raid could destroy the U-boats and their base, and thereby cripple the German submarine campaign.

The raid was a success, but it came at a great cost. Of the 1,700 British sailors and marines who took part in the raid, more than 500 were killed or wounded. However, the raid achieved its objectives. The U-boats were destroyed, and the base was damaged beyond repair. As a result, the German submarine campaign was significantly weakened, and the Allies were able to win the war.

Ninety Seconds at Zeebrugge is a gripping account of one of the most daring raids in naval history. Mark Simmons tells the story with verve and detail, bringing to life the men who planned and executed the raid. The book is a must-read for anyone interested in naval history, World War I, or the history of warfare.
